  3. TJ Shafer says:

hey, very cool vid. What size are the screens? and are they actual screens with projectors or lcd displays?

  4. Josh Peters says:

    TJ,

The total resolution was 2160 X 720. We used Christie S9 projectors and did do rear projection for this set up. For our current set up we are using tubes instead of screens. I need to upload some clips.

This is a huge example of the importance of good content. The video could have been amazing (which it was) and the text effects might have been perfect (which they were) but if the story or content isn’t there then everything else suffers.

Huge props to everyone for this piece. We as Christ followers forget too quickly that he came not for the healthy but for the sick and the broken. Everything in this piece worked for that message. Thank you.

  6. Jonathan says:

did you actually make the text in final cut or did you use livetype integrated into it

  7. Josh Peters says:

    Jonathan,

We used Final Cut for everything on this one. All of the effects were transitions, keyframes or edits.

  9. Josh Peters says:

    Aaron,

It isn’t available anywhere to buy. It’s a copyright issue. It’s only available here.

absolutely incredible…i’ve been listening to this for the past several months. we moved away from ATL and BC in 2005. I can’t imagine seeing this live. This song/performance was one of the best i’ve ever heard…..until tonight, when my own four year old daughter sang with me while watching this video – asking if it was about Jesus. gotta go before my tears fry my keyboard.

Avril is one of the reasons I love being a volunteer. Her smile warms my soul and her creativity makes me want to learn more about production. She rocks my face off on a weekly basis.

  12. I began TD 3 years ago and I am so glad that I found this site. This helps out a whole lot. I’ve learned to direct by just simply observing and asking a ton of questions. Other things I’ve learned by watching a lot of videos and t.v. shows. I am passionate about what I do when it comes to videography, but my main challenge was effective communicating. When I first started I thought people were on the level I was on. Thinking that they knew what shot I wanted, but they couldn’t read my mind. Reading your training manual now let’s me know that the operator is suppose to know, if they do not know,
learn there camera. I didn’t know that they were responsible for creating shots own there own. That’s something that I had in me when I was an operator. I always observed my veteran ops at that time and I just went with the flow. This information is very, very helpful and this will be used so our media department can take it to another level.

  13. Kevin says:

Love your guy’s shots. Awesome stuff you guys have going here. Really blew me away. Around about 6:05 the director calls for some cuts. He cuts to cam 3 and 3 kinda does some fast zooms onto the lead. Is this something you guys do a lot? Has it ever been found to be distracting to the audience? I love it. Just wondering what your feed back has been on those kind of shots.

  14. Josh Peters says:

    Kevin,

I don’t think we have gotten feedback from the audience that it’s distracting. Sometimes in our review meetings we think that when it’s done at the wrong time or is over used that it becomes distracting. If the director uses the moves at the right time and chooses the right song with the appropriate level of energy then it usually works. Done correctly it can enhance the experience in the room.

  15. Chase says:

I like this version of the song much better. Rather than starting out heavy like it does now, I like how song builds up toward the end part.

    timski!!!

did not really understand what you talked about, but it was cool to hear your voice and see your face! :)

    have a good day!!!!

  17. Jeff says:

Are you kidding me? Unbelievable! I miss BHC & NPCC!!! Luckily, we have Stephen, Norton & Jason bringing that NPCC quality here to Denver!!! newdenver.org

  18. Kevin says:

Right, if the movement is motivated then use it. Awesome. So you guys have review meetings? What does this consist of? Directors going over footage? I am currently a technical director, and I also call shots at the same time, and these types of meetings would be very effective at our church.

  19. Jordan says:

on the two side screens, with those fonts and placement of words, is that all through ProPresenter? If not, what program is used?

  20. Tyrae says:

The work of your volunteers are very impressive. The camera work actually looked professional. You couldn’t even tell if there was any post work done, that’s how well the director and the operators did. I enjoyed watching the video.

  21. Randy Gosling says:

This is a awsome video and do you have a CD of this group?

Hi Guys – this is really cool and love your camera work. I noticed the date… Are you doing anything different now?? What are you focussing on at the moment?

  27. Brandon Kem says:

Sounds like me most Sunday mornings! Great to hear the terminology we’ve been using is the same you are.
I like the 16:9. Ours is still on 4:3 but we’ll get there.
    Thank you for sharing this.
    http://www.newhopepdx.org under Sundays.
Putting together a blogspot that will assist our camera ops, switcher and producers in what to look for, terms, standard cam movements, cadence of switching and training up new leaders.
That will be at http://www.pdxvid.com eventually. Nothing much there at the moment.
Thanks again for letting us see and hear.

  28. You mention that you use the monitor to check focus. Can you actually *control* the focus from the shader if it’s off? Or do you just need to communicate to your camera operator and ask them to sharpen it?

  29. Shaun says:

Thanks guys so much for your tips,
I am a volunteer camera operator for the Christian Family Centre and am really enjoying learning more about this every day.
Your tips are making our shots more professional every week we go out there.

    Thanks again!

    Hi,
Our church is looking to purchase a new computer generated video system for our Worship Team.
I just stumbled on your post of “All Because of Jesus” video, when viewing Pro Presenter softwear. Your post is a great teaching tool for producing music videos. Just an idea, in the past when videotaping weddings I’v used a special effects filter in front of the camera lens which would separate the image into five images. And slowly rotate the images for a different effect. You can do this with softwear in postproduction but not live and I haven’t seen where you would be able to get the rotating movement effect. Also a multi flair rotating filter works well for a great effect. These filters are cheep and I just hold it in front of the lens and rotate them. In a multi camera production it gives you time to place and remove the effects filters when the other cameras are live.
Again thanks for what your doing, is so great.

    GOD bless,
    Warren

    Nice Jared!

    Hi Jared,

I love the new set design! I was wondering where you purchased the burnout fabric. I tried to google it and found a bunch of different things but wanted to find out where you guys purchased it.

    Thanks so much!

Watched it over here in Charlotte, NC. IT WAS AMAZING! Probably the best, most hype openers I’ve ever seen! Hats off to the masterminds behind this and all the folks it took to pull it off!
