We have made some changes lately on how we provide you with the rehearsal songs for Sunday. We are uploading them to PCO. This is a great way to keep information for Sunday concise and in one place. The best thing about this is that you will be now be able to listen to the rehearsal songs from your phone, giving you mobile access to them! Songs are usually uploaded on Thursday mornings after rehearsals.

Below are instructions on how to access and play songs from PCO:

Login to PCO.

Go to the plan for the upcoming Sunday.*

Hover over the “rehearse” link in the upper right of the plan.

Click on “media player”. (this will bring up a window with a list of songs).

The top section of songs will be the songs from rehearsal.

That’s it, you are now ready to prepare for Sunday.

* You will only be able to access songs to plans for which you are scheduled.

Ten years ago, Buckhead Church started with a vision to build a church that could grow full of adults and children that were eager to know Jesus more. Ten years later, God has blessed us with that result in amazing ways, and, with it, a new challenge. We are out of space in our Waumba Land preschool ministry environment.

We know that we can’t reach Atlanta if we can’t offer preschool space for families. So, we’ve created a plan to expand Waumba Land to a size that can welcome all the preschoolers that might arrive on a Sunday morning. As you can also imagine, this endeavor will come with a price tag (around $1.1 million, to be exact). On one hand, that is a large number. But on the other hand, I know that we can do this. Know that we see this as a project for all of us…not just parents of preschoolers. It will have to be that way for this to work.

Visit www.buckheadchurch.org/grow to find out how you can help!

As I am sure you have noticed, we recently changed the set on the stage. I just want to fill you in on some of the how and the why about this set.

This set design was driven by several different factors. One of these factors was the Drive Conference that is being held at North Point Community Church the end of March. We needed a set that could easily be converted into the grid like structure that was needed for the Drive Conference. Because we want to keep the stage looking very similar to North Point’s stage, we mimicked the pipe grid structure that you can see. Secondly, we decided to theme the set little more than usual. The series that Andy and Jeff are currently doing, Life Apps, was very easy to play off of with the “App” icon shape. It would have been easy to just cut out and put up a lot of rounded off squares, but that would have been boring. Instead we decided to do a radiating pattern of different sized squares. This gives the set a little more depth and dimension. The white “app” pieces are cut out of a frosted acrylic plastic and hung with a light duty decorative chain.

The last part of the design though was that we wanted something simple. We have had several very complicated, multi-textrural sets recently and we felt like it was time for a break. It is refreshing every now and then to sort of cleanse the pallet. We wanted a set that was relatively simple and looked very clean on stage. I feel like this one does that.

Here are a couple quick facts about the set:

There are 22 uniquely sized squares used to create the radiating pattern

We used a little over 400 feet of light duty chain to hang the squares

There are a total of 25 LED’s lighting fixtures lighting the squares

It took a total of 243 labor hours to install this set

Meet Steve Marcia, our new Music Director at Buckhead Church.

He is originally from Corona, CA, where there are three “In-N-Out Burgers” all less than 10 minutes away from his old house.

He’s no stranger to Buckhead Church or North Point Ministries. Since moving to Atlanta last May, he’s played guitar onstage at all three campuses. Before joining us full-time, he was a music producer and touring musician. He’s been the lead guitarist for Phil Wickham, Mercy Me, Shane & Shane, and many others.

In addition to playing guitar onstage, he is now responsible for scheduling the band and arranging the music sets each week.

Steve has been married for four years to his wife, Lisa. Their first baby is due any day and they have two dogs. In his spare time when the weather is nice, he likes to ride motorcycles.

And, a fun fact about him is that his last name, pronounced “Mar-see,” is French, but he’s also part Japanese and Mexican.

If you read the previous post or (hopefully) have served or attended in the past 3 months or so, you know that Jeff Henderson, our Buckhead Church campus pastor had made a bold step to become the campus pastor of the newest campus of NPMi, Gwinnett Church.

Accompanying Jeff in this big move, is his long time assistant, Kristen Franklin and our Service Programming Director, Lauren Espy. She will become the SPD Director at Gwinnett Church. Please keep these 3 in your prayers, along with Gwinnett, as this church comes in to being. There are lots of challenges ahead and we could not be more excited for them.

Stepping into the Buckhead Church SPD Director role is Chris Green, our Music Director. He will be both directors until we find a new Music Director. We are so thrilled that Chris is stepping into this role. Please pray for him in this new role and for his beautiful family: his wife, Katie, and his 2 daughters, Bella and Farrah.

If you had to choose a song for BC to cover, what would it be and why? No song in particular, but I do like when we do some old-school hymns, as well as when you change it up and have acoustic sets, or different artist, but don’t mix them up so much. If Mandy is there, let her have the whole set, let Casey have it all instead of having so many different artist. They’re all great, but it seems to kinda mess up the flow if you keep changing the lead. I guess I’m saying sometimes less is more. Oh yeah…let Joni lead too.
Pet Peeve: People that drive slow in the fast lane.
